Before functional training became all the rage, there was Pilates. Joseph Pilates always believed that a body gains strength from the inside out and that training of the core was essential to daily functioning, good posture and prevention of injury. This training is for group exercise instructors or personal trainers who would like to enhance their skills by the addition of Pilates to their repertoire and/or as an introduction to those people who are interested in further study.
Objectives:
- Students will be able identify and teach the guiding principles of Pilates
- Students will be able to demonstrate standard classical technique of Pilates level I fundamentals and Matwork exercises.
- Students will be able to explain and teach standard classical technique of Pilates level I fundamentals and Matwork exercises as well as modifications for each to healthy individuals.
$159.00, includes Joseph Pilates' Book “Return to Life”
This training is for group exercise instructors and/or personal trainers who would like to enhance their training skills by the addition of Pilates to their repertoire.
This is not a certification program although you will receive a certificate of completion and .8 ACE continuing education credits will be earned. The future Pilates instructor can use this training to prepare them for the 400-plus hour intensive training program required by the Pilates Method Alliance* to teach Pilates.
After completing this weekend, the participant will be able to perform and demonstrate the level one and two mat work exercises to healthy individuals. The participant will be familiar with modifications for certain individuals. He/she will know the principles and fundamentals of Pilates and will be able to apply them to their practice and instruction.
*The only Pilates certification that is internationally recognized is the new Pilates Method Alliance Pilates Certification which can be taken only after the completion of an intensive comprehensive training program of 400 hours or more. This course and further training in Matwork levels II, III and IV as well as private equipment sessions will prepare you for this intensive program. |
